I was in a situation as general housemaid but was much troubled with varicose veins. I had been wearing an elastic stocking for over three years. I had consulted four doctors about the trouble; one of them said I must undergo an operation and have the veins cut and tied, or I would never be well; two said I would never be able to earn my living. Of course, being a poor girl, I had to work, my mother not being in a position to keep me at home or give me a trade.

A lady heard of me and wrote to me, lending me Science and Health, and asking me to tell her later if I should like treatment. I accepted the kind offer, and I can truly say I am healed. I feel very grateful to God for His goodness in sending such a friend. I feel as if one of Christ's disciples had been sent to heal me. I know what my practitioner said about Christian Science is quite true, "In God we live, move, and have our being." God is Love, His Word is a lamp unto my feet.
