Christian Science came to me through a sister who was then living in Boston. She kindly sent a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" to my mother, and we both became interested.
I knew nothing of Christian Science with the exception of having heard of several persons being healed through it, and supposed it was one of the many kinds of faith cure. I began to read the book with a great deal of curiosity. I had not read many pages before I became deeply interested by it, and it was always with great reluctance that I put it down to attend to other duties.
I was at this time a member of the Methodist Church and had a class in Sunday School. I continued my attendance and taught my class until I could no longer hold to the old beliefs.
There were no Christian Scientists here, so I did not know of the Quarterly or anything about Christian Science services. I sought one of Mrs. Eddy's students in a neighboring city, and received the assistance that I greatly needed. In the mean time I obtained a kind letter of dismissal from my late pastor. Just after leaving the church I read several passages from our Leader's works that made the pathway clear to me, and my own healing added great strength to my understanding. After working earnestly the best I could I took class instruction. I am grateful to say I have succeeded in planting the truth in several homes, and it has been of great benefit to me. I feel a deep sense of gratitude for our Leader and for our Church and co-workers.—Lula M. Haslup, Sidney, O.
