I should be very ungrateful to God if I did not thus...

I should be very ungrateful to God if I did not thus publicly thank Him for this great proof of His love, and at the same time did not acknowledge my gratitude to that noble, unselfish woman, Mary Baker G. Eddy, who had the courage to give to the world this sweet message of God 's changeless love.

Through Christian Science I have been healed of chronic rheumatism, and led into a fuller realization of God's omnipotence. About twelve years ago my hands and feet became enlarged and very painful. As the disease advanced all my joints became affected, and I had great difficulty in moving them, my hands being so much distorted that I could not close them. I spent many weary nights and days in great pain.

The doctor who attended me said that there was infiltration of the joints and along the sinews, which could only be removed by an operation. I employed three different physicians, but none of them gave me any encouragement. One of them said that on account of my age my case was hopeless and that I would continue to get worse till I was completely helpless. I was sixty-seven years of age.
