Appreciation

The following paragraph from a private letter voices a thought which is most heartily appreciated by those who have been called to arrange the Bible Lessons.

The lesson-sermon on "Soul" for to-day is so plain and helpful, so strong and inspiring, that I cannot refrain from expressing my gratitude for it and my appreciation of its blessings. I feel like saying of it, and of all the lessons, that they are proving their utility and "rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs, to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick" (Science and Health, p. 583). Many erroneous beliefs are being destroyed, and in their stead there comes the awakened understanding, recognizing and reflecting the joys of Spirit. I do not know the members of the Lesson Committee, but that need not hinder me from joining the ever-increasing throng of grateful ones and expressing a word of thankfulness for these purifying manifestations of divine Love. How full of cheer and hope is the invitation, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest," and how practical (and therefore helpful) are the words, "Look away from the body, into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality" (Science and Health, p. 261).
