Misapprehension of Christian Science
Bridgeport (Conn.) Standard
To the Editor.
In your review of Professor Cushman's late lecture on Christian Science, you say that its purport was to "set forth what Christian Science is, and what it is not."
But this cannot be, for Professor Cushman is not a Christian Scientist, and hence he cannot say what Christian Science is, and what it is not. Jesus said, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." The same is true of Christian Science. One must do, as Jesus said, that is, live and demonstrate its principle, in order to know and understand it, and only such as do this, are competent to judge of what Christian Science is, and what it is not.
