Fear Destroyed

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear." In proportion as we understand God as Love, do we cast out all fear, and bring about harmonious conditions in ourselves and others. It has been this realization of the perfect Love that enabled me to overcome a chronic trouble of ten years' standing.

I became a member of the Baptist Church when quite a boy and attended regularly, but could not become interested in the Bible, for I could not understand it. Since taking up the study of the Bible in the light which "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" throws upon it, I find a new book which is very dear to me and is my daily companion, and I know that in the measure that I live the great Truths found therein, I am striving to have the Mind in me which was also in Christ Jesus, and am able to prove that the "Lord He is God; there is none else." This Love which we are taught in the study of Christian Science enables us to love our neighbor, no matter what he seems to express toward us; for we are all of one big family, "And there shall be one fold, and one shepherd."

We are able to overcome a discouraged sense by the knowledge of its unreality. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." I know that "Christian Science, understood, coincides with the Scriptures" (Science and Health, p. 358). Our gratitude goes out to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for what she has done in showing us the way to harmony, and for the wisdom with which she leads us now.
