We are privileged to publish the following testimony which was embodied in a private letter to a friend:—

Friday afternoon at about half past three, I went out to the acid works to look at some new work. We had built some acid pits, solid brick affairs, three feet deep, and at the time they contained only a little sulphuric acid and some clay.

Stepping on the wall of one of these pits, the bricks gave away, swinging me half around. I could not jump or grab at anything, and fell half backwards into the pit towards a partition wall. Down I went, two hundred pounds avoirdupois. The first thought I had was, "I must smash my head on the partition," the second was "Truth." There was no time for more thoughts. According to so-called natural laws, I should have fallen on my side and back with a more or less broken head. But my God spoiled the order and regulation. He laid a firm hand upon me and held me up.

There was no fear or confusion. Looking at the situation, I found myself crouched at the bottom of the pit, like a rabbit in the field. I had both feet under me. I got up, scrambled out of the pit, looked at me from top to bottom, and found myself all there. A little dust on the overcoat, and some mud on my shoes, but not even a splash of acid. I brushed myself clean, and with a joyful heart gave thanks to God, finished my business at the acid works and went back to my office, which is about half a mile. In walking I noticed that my right foot wanted to say something mean, but I did not pay much attention to it.

I had considerable walking to do when I came to my office and towards five o'clock I made ready to go home, a clear mile distant. When I started out, my right foot rebelled and tried to dictate a fainting spell, but I managed this movement with the Scientific Statement and the Ninety-first Psalm. "For He shall give His angels charge over thee, ... they shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone." That struck the right spot and I marched on as lively as ever.

On removing my shoe at home, I found there was no swelling, no bone broken, but I could not step on the foot and had to drag it. Then I settled down for good straight work. When I fell I thought of my head, but not of my feet.

After supper Mr. S. came and we read our lesson, "Adam and Fallen Man." While reading there were suddenly three or four loud cracks in the ankle and bones of the foot. We both stopped and looked up, and had to laugh. Then I told Mr. S. the whole performance. At eleven o'clock when I went upstairs I still had to drag the foot.

During the night the old serpent woke me up at different times, trying to tell me all kinds of lies such as, "You wont be able to go to work in the morning," "You cannot sing to-morrow evening and Sunday." "Wont they laugh at you," etc., also fear wanted to tell me that the trouble was not overcome, and I must telegraph for help; but God did not forsake me, He was my ever-present Helper.

When I dressed myself in the morning there was no swelling, no discoloration, and I went to work joyfully and was grateful for the victory won.

When Mr. S. came in the evening (Saturday), he laughed when he saw me running to the door to let him in. I told him if I could dance I would do so, I felt so happy.

When I came to the full realization of the whole affair, the glorious Truth, I could not help myself, I had to cry for joy, and I am not ashamed to say so.

How grateful we must become to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the blessing she has given to all of us, and how charitable we must become to all who are still waiting.

Dr. Fred W. Mann, Franklin, Pa.
