Christian Science as a Schoolmaster
My mother was left an orphan when very young and was brought up with no tender regard, and scarcely an opportunity of obtaining an education. About five years ago, when she was then fifty-five years of age, at the time that directions were sent out to use the Scientific Statement of Being at the close of the Sunday services, she expressed the desire to learn it for herself unaided. As she was not familiar with figures, the page in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" on which the Scientific Statement of Being is found, was marked for her. In a very short time she could not only read and understand it, but could read and understand other paragraphs as well. In less than one year she was able to read the Quarterly. She now reads and studies all the literature of Christian Science and is able to demonstrate for herself.
All we have, we owe to Christian Science, and have learned that age has no power to hinder a right desire. How can we be otherwise than grateful to God and our beloved Leader for these and other untold benefits.
