The Lectures

Judge Joseph R. Clarkson lectured in Rapid City, S. D., on the subject of Christian Science to an attentive audience on Saturday evening, July 28. He was introduced by Judge Levi McGee of the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court, who spoke in part as follows :—

The Christian Science Church has what is termed a Board of Lectureship, composed of a number of its ablest exponents, of which the speaker of the evening is a member. These lectures are educational in character and are intended to remove erroneous impressions and wrong ideas of Christian Science caused by prejudice, the zeal of its early advocates, and the misrepresentations of the ignorant and malicious.

The speaker who is soon to address you, has had a wide and varied experience in the active affairs of life; he has been a member of the honorable profession of the law for over twenty years, and served with honor and distinction as judge of the District Court in the city of Omaha, and at the time he embraced Christian Science, about three years ago, he was a member of one of the leading law firms of that city and enjoyed a large and lucrative practice. Notwithstanding this, he left it all and is devoting his entire time and life to this work.
