Concerning the "Law of want," a writer in the (Baptist) Watchman says: "He who would 'gain the whole world' must be willing to 'lose his own soul.' He who wants God must give up self. He who wants righteousness must surrender his sin. There must also be the element of patience, the want must endure. Long forces work slowly. You may not have what you want in one minute, or in one day. The law holds good in the long run. The want that wins is the want that waits. Let the want be single and supreme; let it be woven into the fibres of the being, and built into the foundation of the life. Then, sooner or later, with a fulness that will fill the soul, that which you want will come to you."

The Boston Transcript says: "Professor Herman von Hilprecht has written the University of Pennsylvania that he has discovered the great temple library and priest's school at Nippur, which was destroyed by the Elamites 228 B.C. He says the library consists of sixteen thousand volumes written on stones, and covers the entire theological, astronomical, linguistic, and mathematical knowledge of those days. At the same place there has been unearthed a collection of letters and official documents, making, with the temple library, twenty-three thousand books in stone."

A writer in the (Episcopalian) Church Standard gives the following advice to the boys belonging to the Brotherhood of St. Andrew: "Be fair. Make sacrifices gladly. Be ready to make the first advance in our quarrels. In fact, preach the Gospel by our own characters. 'Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and florify your Father which is in Heaven.' This is the command of Christ. We can bring others to love the Gospel when they see it as we live it."
