Reflection

I was sitting in an east room, late one afternoon, studying the Sunday lesson, when suddenly the sun illumined my book with all the brightness of the morning rays. Knowing that the sun does not set in the east, I looked up quickly to find the cause of this sudden illumination. I discovered that the orb of day, as it neared the western horizon, had cast its rays on the window of a neighbor's house, and the reflection was so bright that it lighted up my book, just as if the sun itself were shining there.

As I pondered the incident, a lesson in life's problem was unfolded to me. The reflected ray illumined my book, but the sun itself was not there.

In like manner we reflect God. He is not in us, but when we let Him shine through us, our thoughts brighten all who come in contact with them. The window was clean, hence it was a good reflector. As we become more and more pure in thought we shall reflect in greater and greater degree the divine goodness, until, at last, the dream of mortality will vanish and we shall awake in His likeness.
