Wayside Thoughts

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? Romans, 7:24.

When Truth has purified the human consciousness that has been filling up, with all kinds of error since first it wandered from the Father's house "into the far country," then, and not till then, shall we be "delivered from the body of this death," or in other words, this false consciousness of mortal self. Pure gold when melted in the furnace, comes out pure gold, but if silver, brass, and copper be fused with it, the stream poured from the crucible is impure; just so with human consciousness. But what are the impure elements that have been taken up by it as we have journeyed in the wrong direction? Everything that is not to be found "in the pattern on the mount"—all that is unlike God.
