Our Mother in Israel

Our Leader, Rev. Mary Baker Eddy, has granted her loyal followers the right to call her "Mother." The one who is leading us out of Egypt, or the flesh, into the promised land of Spirit, is indeed our "Mother in Israel." Mother, is the dearest name on earth—from a human standpoint, the most holy.

How completely the symbol can be carried out! Does not the Mother reflect the wisdom and love which guides the child in the right path, and has the child any right to question the mother's authority? Would the child be obedient who did that? Let us see to it that we are true heirs and not bastards, that we are "loyal" according to the definition given us in "Retrospection and Introspection," page 62 : "By loyalty in students I mean this,—allegiance to God, subordination of the human to the divine, steadfast justice, and strict adherence to divine Truth and Love."

To follow where she is leading gives the true birthright of spirit. What will the inheritance of that birthright be? In the words of St. Paul, "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance."
