How Evil can be Bound

For eighteen hundred years the Christian world has been looking expectantly for the dawn of the millennium, the thousand years wherein evil shall be bound and made powerless. To-day how much might be done to make that long-looked-for cycle of peace a great and abiding reality, if every Christian would guard his thought so carefully, as utterly to shut out of his consciousness all evil and permit none but pure thoughts to enter in. Then Love would be enthroned as absolute Ruler; love for God and love for man. The Golden Rule would be the enacted law of the land. The reign of Harmony would have begun to dawn upon Christian nations. In all their relations mankind would put self out of sight and love for others would be the ruling thought.

If every Christian Scientist would faithfully bar the door of thought to evil of every kind, keeping strict watch over his daily and hourly cogitations, what a tremendous uplifting influence beyond what that influence is to-day would be exerted upon. the world. Scientists would so radiate Love that their example would be an irresistible sermon and exhortation. They would have begun to perceive the meaning of that admonition, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus."

What a goal to strive for; what a race, to be run and won. Then would they reflect the power to deprive evil of its supposed authority in much greater degree. The millennium would be brought nigh.
