Slander fails as true justice prevails

As the November elections approach here in the United States, I find myself thinking about a time back in the 1980s when I was appointed to take the place of a town commissioner stepping down from office.

Since I had recently lost an election by only 19 votes, I was a natural choice. It was a small community where I had sold real estate and I was well known by the residents.

One day, we learned that our town had a problem with illegal drugs that the police department couldn’t handle on its own because there weren’t enough resources to patrol the canals running through our small east-coast Florida town.
