As a winter storm raged outside, this college student battled her own storm of feeling unworthy, unloved, and sick. But a single call to a Christian Science practitioner stopped the internal storm and allowed the light of healing to break through.
When it came to achievements on the playing field or sexual conquests, this author just wasn’t measuring up—and that caused him to doubt himself both as a person and a man. A turning point came when he began reevaluating his definition of what it means to be a man and choosing a new, spiritual sense of manhood as his model.

I knew right away that these officers, being spiritual, could do nothing besides what God, Spirit, was causing them to do.
After he lost an item that had a lot of sentimental value, this author headed out to look for it. But it was prayer, not the search itself, that helped him find it—and that brought home a powerful spiritual lesson.

As a twenty-something, this writer faced scary symptoms that pointed to a mental health issue. But what she was learning in Christian Science about God as Mind—the only Mind—not only empowered her to pray, but led to complete healing and freedom.
If you see people who are homeless, addicted to drugs, or otherwise struggling, what can you do? This author shares how praying through her own perception of others has made a difference.
A former weight lifter finds that what she learned from her coach about getting the full benefit of any exercise also applies to getting the most out of her prayers. In other words, when we pray, it’s not enough to go through the motions; we have to let God move our heart.

When you’re having a political discussion, what’s your goal? To convince someone else how wrong they are? Taking an honest look at her own political discussions led this author to pray for a spiritual upgrade to her approach to politics.
When a political conversation turns into a debate, how can you respond in a way that really helps? This writer got a surprising response when he asked himself that very question in the middle of a heated political discussion with a friend.
A heavy course load. A looming project. Lots of extracurriculars. What’s a student to do? This author found that understanding God as the “engine” for her endeavors helped to remove stress and ensure success.
When we pray for healing, are we changing something? Getting God to intervene in our lives? This author dives into the “how” of healing and looks at what’s really happening.
When attending church started to feel like a big inconvenience, this author “put it all out there” in his prayers and asked God why he needed to go to church anyway. The answer he got gave him a very different perspective on that Sunday morning commitment.
