Travel safely in God's care

Shirley Paulson, C.S.

From concerns about homesickness at camp to fear of flying, site visitors questioned practitioner Shirley Paulson about how prayer could make a difference to travel. Noting how God had sustained the Apostle Paul on his journeys, she spoke of the safety one experiences when traveling with a sense of God’s purpose as a guide to our decisions and activities.

Among the other topics covered were prayer about fear of diseases in other countries, stress in dealing with aggressive drivers in major metropolitan areas, motorcycling, the pull of recreation versus serving at church, and how to transcend the pressure brought on by the pace of contemporary life. Making choices about travel, responding to challenges while on a trip, and praying for family members who are traveling were also addressed. In addition, Shirley offered thoughts about prayer for people working in the travel industry. Some site visitors shared their own spiritual insights, one of which was, “When my attention is focused on my only real purpose, which is to love, loving becomes my route and destination as I go forward.”
