Prayer for peace and safety from terrorism

Maryl Walters, C.S.B.

In this chat, Maryl brings out the point that it isn’t “our responsibility to try to pray peace into being. It’s to learn through prayer how to be a witness to the presence of peace that’s already within us, already among us, despite what appears to be significant evidence to the contrary.” She responds to specific queries about terrorism and how to address it while also offering ideas for people who want to know how to establish peace in the home and on the playground. One question comes from a schoolteacher who asked about how prayer regarding local forms of terrorism in her community could contribute toward world peace and safety from terrorism globally—and how to convey this concept to her seventh graders.

Visitors asked Maryl about her trip to the Middle East with an interfaith group and insights that she had during that time and another question touched on support for military personnel, including those who join the service in the face of parental opposition.
