Peace Is Here

WHAT was it like when angels sang of peaceUpon Judea's hills that winter night?

Direction

Lord, when my footsteps pause at those detoursAlong life's road, I pray Thee let me seeThy pleasures wiser than the world's allures; And let me choose the path that goes to Thee,Remembering that vacillation findsAn ever-clouded scene, wherein no riftAbove illumes Thy certain way that windsLike gleaming ribbon through this shadow-drift.

The Bible

I take the Bible in my hand,And then the seers before me stand; The prophets teach, the Psalmist sings, While sound again the silver strings.

There Is No Death

There is no silver cord to loose,No golden bowl to break;Death is a dream of mortal sense,From which we all must wake; For God is Life—He knows no death; And as His children weSweet heritage of life are given,Now and eternally.

True Safety

When dawning comes with glad acclaimBefore the pregnant day,Oh, let me search both thought and plan,To keep them chaste and high alway.

At morning, when the day was new,And kindling skies proclaimed the dawn,A shining pageant filled the lawn—Each grass blade held a drop of dew.
