Loss Is Gain

I turned aside from thought of mortal gain,Seeing that earthly things will fade away;I gave up dreaming, seeing the promise vainThat paints a glowing picture out of clay;There is no hope within the fragile seemingThat finds its shallow life in idle dreaming.

Reflection

Beside the road a pool, small but serene,Heedless of hurried toil, watching the sky,Became a jewel of iridescent sheen,Offering its beauty to each passer-by.

Lesson for the Hour
