'GOD IS HERE'

I wanted to share this healing in appreciation for all the testimonies I've read in the Christian Science magazines and heard in church for many years. I'm grateful in particular for one testimony that supported me in a moment of need.

The account was brief: A woman said she was opening the door to her apartment when a man jumped out from a bush and grabbed her wrist. She paused for a moment, his hand on hers with the key in the door, and then she said out loud, "God is here." The man stood still, then turned and ran off. I remember appreciating what a wonderful declaration of truth that was, and how immediately effective.

Several months later, in the fall of 2007, I was reminded of the power of that simple declaration. I had been going to night school as well as working during the day. This particular afternoon I was on my way to the bus stop to catch a shuttle bus to the community college for a three-hour class. Walking down the street, I was suddenly besieged with what appeared to be an irregular heartbeat. A feeling of discomfort quickly grew more intense, and I felt like I was beginning to lose consciousness. Looking for a place to sit, I realized I had two long blocks to walk before reaching the bus stop bench. Fear came over me, and I found myself asking God to "help me get there."
