HEALED OF ALCOHOLISM
My wife and I had been married for seven years when this healing took place. It had been an up-and-down marriage, and things were a mess. Feelings had been badly hurt, lies told out of pride or for whatever reason, and my attachment to alcohol was at the center of all of this.
After another fight when I'd been drinking again, Tina took the kids and left. This time it was to be for good, and I was quite sure of that. We'd separated and gotten back together many times, but this time was different. Even though I had known about the benefits of Christian Science from observing and listening to Tina, I was not attending church or into Christian Science at all. But after my wife left, I was anxious to really get rid of the alcohol problem that was tearing our little family apart.
She encouraged me to call on a Christian Science practitioner, which I did, and I began attending church. Over a period of two or three months I visited the practitioner in her office, and talked with her on the phone many times, listening to what she had to say about my relationship to God as closely as I could. What I remember most was her expression of love. She didn't judge me, but helped me think about things in a new way. She asked me to make a list of things I was grateful for, and I did.
