Let God in
We have an unlimited capacity to live at one with God—and He has an infinite amount of love to bestow on us.
Do you feel close to God? Whatever level of connection we feel, we would probably like to find a greater sense of nearness—to more consistently know His presence, hear His response to our prayers, and rest in His comfort. How can we experience God in our lives more dependably and tangibly?
The Bible says, “The Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9, New Living Translation). Accepting and embracing this powerful promise inspires and encourages us.
It may seem too good to be true to expect God to be present in a way that is practical and applicable to our circumstances. But as Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, wrote to a student: “All things are prepared for us by the Father. Our part is to prepare ourselves to receive them” (Mary Baker Eddy to Sue Ella Bradshaw, February 24, 1890; L04643, The Mary Baker Eddy Library; © The Mary Baker Eddy Collection). This spiritual preparation is possible anytime, anywhere, and the blessings flowing from our efforts are infinite.
God is as present in our lives as we allow Him to be. God is not passive—He is ever-active good. Our heavenly Father is always communicating with us, informing and uplifting us. And if we are receptive to His messages, we will not miss them. We hear Him most clearly as we keep our thinking uncluttered by the underbrush of intrusions such as discord, doubt, and disease. Opening our thought to God’s all-good nature and to our true nature as His children, we let Him into our consciousness. Then we experience freedom, intelligence, harmony, satisfaction, joy, and every other divine quality.
