Child’s allergy fully healed

When our son was six months old, my husband and I began introducing solid foods into his diet. We loved this joyful milestone but noticed that when our son ate eggs, he experienced an alarming skin irritation. Since it felt prudent to know whether it was safe to continue offering him food containing eggs, I agreed to consult a physician, as encouraged by my husband, who is not a Christian Scientist but lovingly supports my prayerful care for our family. After some tests, we were advised to avoid giving our son eggs in any form for at least three years because of an allergy.

I knew that this could, and would, be healed through Christian Science treatment. Our son’s spiritual perfection and freedom from material limitations as God’s cherished child had always been clear to me. Even so, as a new mother, I was tempted to see myself as overly responsible for his well-being and “on the hook” for screening everything he ate—and for personally healing this condition.

I knew this was an opportunity for me to better understand that our son’s individual relation to God fully provides all the care he needs. My job was to bear witness to and rejoice in that fact.
