I first became acquainted with Christian Science some years ago in Buenos Aires. My family was Catholic and gave great importance to the images of saints. I was a medical doctor and I carried pictures of these saints in the pockets of
my lab coat, believing that these images were protecting and helping me with my medical studies. I had many superstitions and rituals. For instance, when I went to my classes, I entered the class with my right foot, for good luck.
In 1990, a friend was attending a Christian Science church in our town, and she invited me to a Christian Science lecture organized by the church. I had never heard any reference to the church and its doctrines. At the lecture, the lecturer said things that I found very interesting, but most importantly, he said something I will never forget: that God does not share His power with anyone.
