Letters & Conversations

Thank you to Anne Whidden, whose article, “Seeing the ‘God of Justice’ ” (Sentinel, December 13, 2021), contains this statement: “Reading this textbook was a duty, not in the sense of a chore, but of a debt of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for writing it—and to God for being the source of the ideas it contained.” This gem has inspired me to begin reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy from cover to cover again. Thanks, too, to Nancy Reinert for this thought from her article, “Getting to know Mary Baker Eddy,” in the December 2021 Christian Science Journal, which also supports my reread of Science and Health: “Each time we sit down again to read one of her books, we discern a little more clearly who the author is, and begin to see the divine authority that impelled her message.” A new journey of spiritual discovery has begun!

Wow! I recently discovered the audio format of the Sentinel’s Bible Lens feature. I’d been using the print format, but in audio, it’s like reading the Bible Lesson with a dear friend. I appreciate that I can pause, write down and ponder some of the research ideas, and then pick up again with the narrator. Thanks for this gift!
