Responses to the press on vaccination
It shall be the duty of the Committee on Publication to correct in a Christian manner impositions on the public in regard to Christian Science, injustices done Mrs. Eddy or members of this Church by the daily press, by periodicals or circulated literature of any sort.
—Mary Baker Eddy, Church Manual,
Article XXXIII, Section 2
Vaccine mandates, particularly as they relate to COVID-19, and the consideration of religious accommodations have been a common theme of stories in the media, and even dinner-table conversations. The balance between public safety and personal rights, including religious liberties, has taken center stage with a stirring of thought and polarization in the public discourse in many places. And while Committees on Publication regularly seek to clarify the Christian Science perspective on such matters, we all have the opportunity, according to our daily prayers for humanity, to witness more of the truth that reveals the wholeness and unity at the heart of all being.
