Truth revealed to our family through prayer

Many years back, I was praying one morning when these words from the Bible came to me: “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.… Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass” (Psalms 37:1, 5).

This provided light at one of the darkest times in my life. Ever since my parents had passed on, there had been conflict among my siblings and me—my brothers were on one side, and my sisters and I were on the other. My brothers started calling me names and saying things about me that weren’t true, including accusing me of dividing our family.

There is a belief in my culture that only sons should inherit a father’s property, and this had been done in our family, but it appeared that my father’s accounts were being misused. My sisters knew the truth, and they wanted me to help bring justice to the situation through the courts. But I decided to pray instead of going to court. Through my study of Christian Science, I knew that God was the “court” I was appealing to through prayer.
