Invariable Life

Sometimes life seems unpredictable and unsettling—filled with risks in the form of illness, accidents, job loss, etc. Unless we turn to divine Science for higher, more spiritual views of reality, we may find ourselves believing that life is unpredictable, out of control, and subject to extremes.

The Bible assures us of the constancy of God and His creation in these words: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, makes this statement, “God is not the shifting vane on the spire, but the corner-stone of living rock, firmer than everlasting hills” (Unity of Good, p. 14).

All that is Godlike is real and unassailable. In Christian Science, the perfection and harmony of God’s creation are the only possibility of being. Any other sense of creation is based on a material sense of existence. The spiritual facts of true being, where we learn that God, the divine Spirit, is the real Life of the universe and man, can become clear to anyone with a rudimentary understanding of divine Science, but to truly understand these facts, they must be put into practice.
