Quick recovery after a fall
Sometimes I traverse the beautiful woods and tranquil trails surrounding Concord, New Hampshire, either on foot or, in winter, on cross-country skis. Often during these times I find inspiration and healing answers to problems I’m praying about.
One day early last winter, while cross-country skiing down a familiar but steep and narrow trail, I fell into a gully not yet filled up with snow. I came down hard on a rock and felt acute pain in my shoulder.
I was in too much pain to get up or even to think clearly, but I did pray for myself as best as I could. In spite of the pain, I actually felt no fear, and my first prayer was to thank God that I was not afraid.
