Letting truth become more real to us
We all would like to be free of the sufferings inherent in matter. Christ Jesus, whom God sent because He “so loved the world,” demonstrated that such freedom is indeed possible. Today, Christian Science reiterates his teachings and shows the mental, moral, and physical healing that is available through an understanding of the supremacy and harmony of Spirit, God.
Over the decades, many have been blessed by Christian Science healing, including me. Even for those who have been healed, however, materiality can still seem tangible and actual to the physical senses, a reality that stands in opposition to the reign of Spirit. Our acquiescence to the seeming reality of physicality hinders spiritual healing. So even as we rejoice over every healing in Christian Science, there still remains a need for ongoing spiritual growth.
In the Bible, the Apostle Paul says, “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2). Healing is the proof of God’s good and perfect will for us—the harmony Spirit eternally expresses in its offspring. The spiritual transformation of our thoughts is the means by which we find healing.
