Helpful with my prayers
[“All creatures moving in harmony,” Patricia Ray, November 16, 2015, Sentinel]
What a beautiful article. “Understanding the control which Love held over all …” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 514) fitted in so helpfully with my prayers for healing terrorism. Thank you!

Love this
[“The good worth holding on to,” Mark Swinney, November 9, 2015, Sentinel]
I just love this: “As one gains more and more familiarity with true prayer, it becomes clear that actually a God-directed transformation of thought is the essence of answered prayer.”

Had to reread it
Before turning in my copy of the October 19, 2015, issue of the Sentinel to our church’s literature distribution box, I thumbed through it and decided I couldn’t let it go until I’d reread it. Happily I listened to that spiritual impulse and found so many more spiritual gems of inspiration that I had apparently missed in my original reading! Every article and testimony yielded “new views of divine goodness and love” (Science and Health, p. 66).
Particularly attention grabbing was the use of the word umbrage by Cindy White Zwick in her article “ ‘Just love.’ ” I love Cindy’s statement that the necessity of expunging such thinking “involves not just wiping this record out of consciousness, but demonstrating God’s eternal, unchanging law of love and harmony.”
I continue to feel immense gratitude for our periodicals and the inspiration always gained from them.

No selfies
Thank you to Jill Gooding for the lines in her poem “Facebook or the Good Book?” (October 12, 2015, Sentinel) that say, “Instead of the countless ‘selfies’ of me / There’d just be the Great I AM.”
When I first read them, I thought, “Well, I have never taken a selfie and am not at all likely to.” Immediately I then realized: “Oh yes, you do! Every time you look in the mirror, you’re taking a selfie.”
I’m checking my thoughts much more now to measure up to an awareness of God as the only I AM, which we all reflect.
