Wisdom tooth pain ends
Several years ago I noticed that I had a wisdom tooth coming in. At first it was just slightly uncomfortable, but as the days went on, it became increasingly painful and was accompanied by intense headaches. My inclination, as a Christian Scientist, was to turn to God in prayer for healing and for a greater understanding of my perfection as God’s child.
Growing up, I had learned in Sunday School that the first chapter of Genesis showed the spiritual truth of my oneness with God. I kept praying with this foundational truth in Christian Science, but I still experienced a lot of pain after several days.
In the Christian Science Bible Lesson that week was the story of Solomon, who, after becoming king, asked God for wisdom to rule the people rather than wealth and power (see II Chronicles 1:7–12). I had been reading this Bible story every day, but it wasn’t until Saturday that its relevance to my life dawned on me.
