Knee pain healed

Last August, after having retired early, I found out that someone I had worked with was a Christian Scientist. She and I happened to be playing in the same golf league, and without the constraints of the workplace, were starting to get to know each other better. I had little knowledge about Christian Science and had always been curious about why people choose the paths to God that they do, so I began to ask her questions, which she answered openly and candidly.

My interest being piqued, I decided to find out a little more about this religion and its founder,
Mary Baker Eddy. I knew that Eddy had written a book called Science and Health, but I knew absolutely nothing about it, so I had a sample downloaded to my Kindle. I started to read the first chapter, “Prayer,” and within the first few paragraphs I was almost yelling to myself, “Yes!” The God that I had always known in my heart was unfolding right before my very eyes in this book that had been written by a woman over 100 years earlier. I was amazed that the absolute Truth had been completely organized into the religion of Christian Science, and that it had been under my nose all this time.

A few months later I went to visit family in Portland, Maine. It was a beautiful Indian summer weekend, and I had brought my running shoes hoping to run a route called The Eastern Promenade, which goes around the port along the water. Prior to the trip my left knee had been bothering me, but I was hoping it wouldn’t be bad enough to prevent the run. Then when I arrived in Portland, I spent several hours walking around the Old Port area. When I finally got back to the hotel, my knee was really bothering me, and it seemed clear that I would not be able to run the next day. I was very disappointed.
