The following was written in support of Church Alive, a focus of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, that explores the meaning and possibilities of awakening to the spiritual basis and impact of Church.

Gathering to glorify God

A few years ago, I decided to gather all my nephews and nieces to have a month-long Bible camp in Balagbag, Cuenca, City of Batangas, Philippines. My nephews and friends also brought with them their respective friends.

The Bible camp was inspired by a persistent desire to have my relatives join together and enjoy their summer vacation in a fun and lively way. I was also inspired by a Christian Science Easter Camp that I attended when I was in London. I saw the joy and enthusiasm of the participants at the camp and thought about sharing this joy and healing with my relatives and friends. I talked to my church about it, and they supported the idea and prayed about it. My friends in the United States also prayed and supported us metaphysically.

At the camp, attendees had the opportunity to share Christian Science with their friends.
