One day last summer, while my cousin Nathan was visiting me at my house, I woke up not feeling very well. My stomach was hurting a little, but I thought that maybe I was just hungry, so I decided to fix myself a bowl of cereal. After I ate it, though, I could tell that the cereal wasn’t going to stay down. And it didn’t! My cousin and I were home alone that day since both my mom and dad had to work. Nathan is a year older than me, so my parents knew that we would be fine on our own, and we had planned to do a bunch of fun stuff like riding our bikes, shooting hoops, and playing video games.
I didn’t want to give in to the “error,” or mistaken thinking, that was trying to tell me there was something more real than God’s love, and that pain was going to be a part of my day. It didn’t seem right that I wouldn’t be able to have fun with my cousin. But instead of praying about the situation like I’d learned to do in Sunday School, I decided to just try to ignore it.
