Daily communion
In the past, I have often struggled to make a personal connection with communion observances as a Christian Scientist. While observing them in other denominations as ceremonies requiring bread and wine, I wondered what relevance they offered for me.
The answer finally came during my study of a Christian Science Bible Lesson on the subject of “Sacrament.” Through the study of this Lesson I realized that communion means a daily unity with Christ, Truth, made active in every aspect of my life. It is not just a weekly or semiannual ceremony in church; it is a sacred moment-by-moment dedication to our Master, Christ Jesus, with a commitment to follow in his footsteps.
As I prayed and deepened my own dedication as a follower of Jesus, I’ve found the following steps helpful in my daily communion:
