Stopping the cycle of fear
Remember the mid-’90s film Groundhog Day? It was about a TV weatherman who, during an assignment to cover Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, finds himself repeating the same day over and over. I’ve often thought about the idea of repeating experiences and patterns of thought again and again. It occurred to me at one point that if we labor under the misconception that our lives can fall into a pattern without promise or alternatives, then we are being tricked into believing that God has created a flawed universe.
But we have choices we can exercise right now—rather than just rehearse what has been.
God, divine Truth, is the scientific fact that cancels any suggestion of duality (good and evil coexisting and fighting each other) or randomness. In fact, this debate was resolved long before the question was even posed! Genesis 1:31 states, “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” This does not sound like a creation stalled in neutral.
