In this series, individuals share how taking Christian Science Primary class instruction has strengthened their spiritual understanding, and brought increasing inspiration and healing to their lives.
Clear knowledge
When I first met my husband, I remember being so impressed with how he came to take class instruction from his Christian Science teacher. His experience was akin to Moses’ encounter with the “burning bush,” or so it seemed to me. It was completely unexpected, and unfolded in an amazing way. I’d heard similar stories through the years and felt this must be the way one “found” one’s teacher in Christian Science. I spent a lot of time waiting for that inspiration!
As time went on, and no “burning bush” appeared on my horizon, I became discouraged. I prayed a lot about this, and read all the articles I could find in the Christian Science periodicals about taking class. Meanwhile, my husband and I had married and we had two small sons.
As I continued to pray about this, I decided that the least I could do was talk with the Christian Science teachers who lived in our area. I called and made appointments with three or four teachers. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with them. We just had general conversations about Christian Science, and I explained that I was interested in taking class.
