Hearing and harmony restored
I was feeling in such a fuddle! My hearing had gone in one ear, which left me with a constant whirling and low humming sound in my head. So when I was trying to get calm in thought and to pray, I would just hear this sound even louder. Work was challenging, as I’d lost a big commission in my work as a sculptor. And worst of all, I was doubting my ability to understand all I was learning in Christian Science, and was doubting my ability to heal.
I e-mailed my Christian Science teacher and poured out the “woe is me” tale and asked her to pray for me. When we talked on the phone the next evening, she suddenly said I needed to recognize that this was just false belief imposed on my thought. In Christian Science I had learned that all thoughts come from God, the one Mind, and as God is good and only good, these negative, discouraging thoughts were not of or from God, and certainly were not mine.
We talked for quite a while, and after the call, the thought of something being imposed on me kept knocking. So I looked up impose in the dictionary. Some of the meanings were:
