The only path
No illusory deviation down the
path of pretense’s making
Can muffle God’s voice or
prevent me from taking
The infallible way the Shepherd
has provided
Treading with sure steps,
unerringly guided
Aware that error has no direction
to degrade
Or power to invade
No site to be grounded
Every allegation unfounded
It’s only consenting to suggestion
Often not willingly admitted
That enables it to elude detection,
avoid correction
And delay the journey of
the Truth-committed
But the Christ’s persistent presence—
all-encompassing light—
Propels me on the path I never left,
clearly in God’s sight
All material selfhood permanently
repressed
Revealing only God’s man—
divinely expressed
—Steve Ryf
