Trust God, put self aside
A friend told me recently about her two sons wrestling in the back seat of the car. She was driving and was so frustrated with the immature bellows: “Mom, make him stop hitting me!” And the retort, “He started it!”
Usually she’d stop the car and begin yelling herself, trying to discipline them. But at that moment she felt guided by God to stop by the side of the road and just watch them from divine Love’s perspective. She trusted Love’s guidance. She thought, Here are my active boys expressing their love for each other. She saw two beings trying to connect, perhaps not knowing a better way. She didn’t have the slightest thought to intervene or interfere with divine Love’s answer at that moment.
Suddenly the boys noticed and stopped fighting. They were able to continue on their drive peacefully. She loved that they had heard divine Love, too. They’d heard God above the din of challenging human will. And perhaps my friend’s not expressing her human will freed her sons to a better expression of harmony, too. It was divine Love’s angelic message being magnified, instead of willpower.
