‘Moment of silence’ to resume in Illinois schools

“Federal court reinstates moment of silence for schools” Naperville Sun January 14, 2011

The Illinois State Board of Education announced to school districts [January 14] that the US District Court has lifted its injunction on the Silent Reflection and Student Prayer Act. That means schools across the state will again be required to observe a moment of silence at the beginning of each school day.

Representatives for both Naperville District 203 and Indian Prairie District 204 said the changes to the school day would be minor.

“We see this as a minor change in our school process as the policy had already been in place when the law was first implemented,” said Susan Rice, director of communications for District 203. “We do not see this as being a drastic change to our school day.”
