My pinnacle prayer
I took this picture on a summertime hike up the Pinnacle Trail in Stowe, Vermont, after a thunderstorm. I was feeling sad and lonely after the passing of my mom some months earlier and wasn’t fully appreciating my beautiful surroundings. Suddenly, I came around a bend to see these startling rays of sunlight shooting through the dark forest. At that moment I thought of something my mom often said to me when I was feeling down: “Just as the sun’s rays are never separated from the sun, we are never separated from God. We are all perfect, just like Him, and constantly surrounded by love.” I completed that hike, filled with gratitude and joy. It’s so nice to have visual reminders like this every once in a while!
