How do you pray to feel at peace within?

Question of the Week previously posted on spirituality.com | November 4, 2010

Whenever my thoughts are soaring upward and Godward, I experience peace. Dwelling in the consciousness of God, His goodness and His allness, takes thought away from the downward pull of the false material pictures which claim to be real, fearful, and depressing. These pictures can never be true because they are never from God. Tuning in to what God wants to say, is my prayer throughout the day. The angel messages from the Most High bring an all-encompassing peace which embraces each and every one.

When I’m dealing with some mental turmoil, I often pray with the hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal, sometimes just going through them one by one. They remind me of God’s ever-present love and care for me and all of Her children. I’ve found peace when afraid of illness, when hurt by troubled relationships, and when making difficult decisions. It has not only brought peace, but healing.
