God wipes out fear

When I went to camp , I found my cabin had a fire pole. All the other kids went down it, but I was scared. I prayed. I thought about how God is everywhere. God wipes out all fear because He is all-powerful.

After a couple of days, I felt like I could do it, and I tried it. The other boys told me to just grab onto the pole, put my chest on it, and slide down. I just knew that God is Love. I felt like I didn’t need to be afraid, and it was fun! After that, I always liked to go down the fire pole.

I made up a poem that you can sing to the tune of “Father, we Thy loving children” (Christian Science Hymnal, Hymn 58):

Father, we Your loving children,
We will have fun today.
Expressing Spirit and joy,
We will go and play today.
We will have fun being good
Listening to angel thoughts.
We will know that God is Love,
As we have some fun today.
