Help for the problem gambler
For the problem gambler who is trying to reclaim his or her self-esteem and self-control, putting gambling online is about as helpful as loading an alcoholic’s cabinet with vodka.
The numbers are chilling. In the United States, six to eight million adults qualify as problem gamblers. The number of women gamblers continues to mushroom. Ten years ago, before Internet use and online gaming sites were so prevalent, 3 percent of problem gamblers were women. Now, 46 percent are women.
Some good news? Help exists. Scores of NGOs and government-funded organizations stand ready to lend a hand to anyone reaching out. Some even better news? There truly is a higher power backing every right endeavor to reach out for help, and every right endeavor to reach out with help. The one ever-present God, Love, supports all who desire to get help and will lead them to what they need.
