'IN GOD I HAVE PUT MY TRUST'

Every single morning, for over 60 years, I have begun my day with a deep study of the Christian Science Bible Lesson, and each day I find something new to think and pray about.

I also pray with passages in the Manual of The Mother Church that Mary Baker Eddy asked students of Christian Science to pay daily attention to, and other spiritual truths that help me see the world as God sees it. One of these is Psalms 56:3, 4: "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me." Recently, I felt this prayerful preparation come to my rescue.

I was sitting eating my dinner and listening to the evening news, when suddenly something that was said caused me to burst out (perhaps too enthusiastically): "That's not true!" and my dinner went down the wrong pipe! I could not breathe, either in or out. I just sat there. But I do remember I wasn't the least bit afraid.
