FREED FROM PAIN AND STRESS

One bright morning, as I lifted a storage bin to move it, my back became stiff, and afterwards walking was painful. Trying to sit on some furniture comfortably, I began to pray "the scientific statement of being," given in Science and Health, which states, in part, that "all is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all" (p. 468). That statement was familiar to me, since I grew up attending Christian Science Sunday School, later became a church member, and took Primary class instruction (a class taught by a Christian Science teacher). These steps gave me the guidance for continuous spiritual progress and healing.

So in that moment, in need of healing, turning to the truth that God is All-in-all and that Spirit fills all space helped me to stay free from fear.

Sitting there very still, I wondered if I should stay home from work that day. I did not want to allow any limitation to burden and keep me from doing what was good. To me, going to work felt right. I was confident that God gives only freedom and harmony and that He had given me dominion over what the material senses presented as pain and stiffness. With persistent effort, I began to move step by step, claiming that "the enslavement of man is not legitimate" (Science and Health, p. 228), because God made us to be free.
