GRATEFUL FOR A NUMBER OF HEALINGS

The following experiences prove clearly to me that Christian Science heals.

Several years ago I was experiencing pain in my back and my chest. Since the condition did not dissolve with my own prayers, I finally, at the end of 2000, asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. The first thing she said to me was, "We are not going to give it a name." This took away my fear because I had asked myself what the disease might be. Without a name, it had less identity and reality. Instead, we explored the nature of God, the Principle of all being.

After this conversation I continued to pray and study that week's Christian Science Bible Lesson. I right away felt the effectiveness of the practitioner's treatment. The pain occurred less and less, and finally disappeared completely. For over nine years I have now been free from this pain. I am happy about this permanent healing, which is established in God's goodness and compassion.

I've learned the truth that God, who is good, cannot share His qualities with something bad. A hard lump had formed in the joint of one of my fingers. As I prayed and reasoned spiritually, these clear thoughts came to me that I used as my spiritual tools: "This problem seems to have gone on for a while. But constancy, reliability, and presence are qualities of the Divine Being. And divine Principle does not lend its qualities to something that does not originate in itself. This growth cannot make these good qualities its own; it can't possess them." Whenever I noticed the lump on my finger joint, I would realize this fact. And it was this truth that made me free. The lump disappeared within a short time and has not recurred.

I'm grateful for these proofs, but I also know Christian Science has a preventive effect. As evidence for this I would like to add that I have so far not missed a single day because of illness during my employment of over 23 years.
